Brooklyn Pickleball Team Shakes Up Lineup: Patrick Smith will step in for Riley Newman on the Brooklyn Pickleball Team’s starting lineup for their last match against the Phoenix Flames in the 2025 MLP Phoenix. Newman hurt his upper right leg during a game earlier on Sunday but managed to finish the match after a medical timeout. Because of his injury, Newman will not play in the final match of the weekend.

Newman’s Injury Opens Door for Smith’s 2025 Debut
Riley Newman injured his leg while playing with Jackie Kawamoto in their win over Allyce Jones and Connor Garnett. With Newman sitting out, Patrick Smith will make his first appearance in the 2025 Major League Pickleball season. Smith will team up with Dekel Bar in men’s doubles and with Jackie Kawamoto in mixed doubles.
