St. Louis Shock and New Jersey 5s Hold Playoff Ground: With Major League Pickleball’s Daytona Beach event now finished, teams have reached the halfway point of the season. The top contenders are beginning to separate from the rest, with the Dallas Flash Pickleball, St. Louis Shock, and New Jersey 5s holding strong in the top three playoff spots.
St. Louis Stays in Second Despite Early Loss
The St. Louis Shock began the 2025 MLP Daytona Beach with a tough DreamBreaker loss to the Los Angeles Mad Drops. However, the team bounced back quickly and won their next five matches. Each of these wins came with a score of either 3-1 or 4-0, helping St. Louis collect 16 out of 18 possible team points.
This would normally be a strong result, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Dallas Flash Pickleball. Dallas had a perfect showing earlier at the 2025 MLP Phoenix, earning all 18 team points. Because of that, St. Louis actually lost ground in the race for the top seed. Still, the Shock hold onto second place, which is a key spot for playoff positioning.
New Jersey Rebounds After Early Setback
The New Jersey 5s also had a rough start. They lost their first match in a DreamBreaker to the Utah Black Diamonds, a team still building its reputation. After that, New Jersey recovered well. The team won its next four matches easily, bringing in 13 of 15 team points.
Although New Jersey played well, the result wasn’t enough to move them up in the standings. They remain in third place and face a tough challenge to catch either the Dallas Flash Pickleball or the St. Louis Shock for a top-two playoff spot.
Playoff Picture Begins to Take Shape
With about half the season complete, teams like the St. Louis Shock and New Jersey 5s are starting to settle into their playoff positions. Dallas remains far ahead in first, while St. Louis and New Jersey continue to fight to stay close.
The results in Daytona Beach made it clear which teams are leading and which ones will need to work harder in the second half of the season. Every point earned now matters as teams aim for a strong playoff seed.
News in Brief: St. Louis Shock and New Jersey 5s Hold Playoff Ground
The St. Louis Shock and New Jersey 5s stayed in the top three after 2025 MLP Daytona Beach. St. Louis scored 16 points and remains in second, while New Jersey earned 13 and sits in third. Both teams are chasing the Dallas Flash Pickleball, which still holds a strong lead in first place.
