Miami Pickleball Club Historic Win: The Miami Pickleball Club ended a five-match losing streak with a dominant 4-0 win over the New York Hustlers in Friday’s opening match on Championship Court. With this win, Miami improved to a 7-10 record and held onto the tenth and final Premier Level playoff spot in Major League Pickleball.
Miami, which had not competed since MLP Austin in May, lost to top teams like the Dallas Flash, New Jersey 5s, Texas Ranchers, and Orlando Squeeze. After another loss to Orlando on Thursday, the team bounced back against New York to regain momentum.
Focus on Fundamentals
Miami Pickleball Club player Noe Khlif explained how the team stayed focused.
“We hadn’t won a match in our last couple, so this was a good win after yesterday,” said Noe Khlif. “I didn’t think we played badly yesterday, but we played a good team, so today it came down to executing the basics, believing in ourselves, and just getting back on track.”

Historic Moment for Japan
The match also marked a milestone for international pickleball. Miami’s Yuta Funemizu, who is subbing in for Jay Devilliers, became the first Japanese player to win a game in Major League Pickleball.
Funemizu is a former soft tennis world champion. He secured wins in both men’s doubles with Noe Khlif and mixed doubles with Mya Bui, earning his place in MLP history.
