Carolina Hogs Playoff Push MLP New York: The Carolina Hogs made a big push at Major League Pickleball’s Fourth of July event in New York, earning 10 team points and jumping to 12th place. With a new roster, Carolina is now close to the playoff line and could still make a run at the top ten.
Carolina’s New Lineup Shows Promise
Carolina entered the MLP New York event with a revamped team. Roscoe Bellamy replaced Collin Johns, and Etta Tuionetoa took over for Kaitlyn Christian. This new lineup made an impact right away with a 3-1 win over playoff-bound Team Orlando.
However, consistency remained an issue. Carolina was then swept 4-0 by a strong Team Columbus. The Hogs bounced back with wins over Team Miami and Team New York, but dropped their final match to Team Brooklyn in a close 3-2 DreamBreaker. Carolina had been the favorite in that deciding match.

Standings and Playoff Position
After their New York performance, the Carolina Hogs sit in 12th place overall. They now have a clear shot at catching Team Miami and Team Chicago, who are currently above the playoff cut. With 10 team points gained in New York, Carolina is just outside the top ten.
Given that Ben Johns is still on the roster, expectations remain high. Many around the league believe that a team with Ben Johns should already be locked into the playoffs.
Missed Opportunities and a Look Ahead
Carolina’s late roster changes seem to have improved their performance. If these changes had happened earlier, Carolina might already be among the top eight teams. Their current group looks dangerous and well-rounded, and few playoff teams will be happy to face them if they qualify.
