The Dink Minor League Pickleball event will take place on July 18, 2025, at Danny Cunniff Park, located at 2700 Trail Way, Highland Park, Illinois. This tournament, part of the NP Windy City Classic series, offers amateur pickleball players a unique and exciting team-based competition format. The registration closes on July 14, and the cost to participate is $70 per player, with teams required to register and pay together.

Organized by Tournament Director Seth Burleigh, the event is expected to draw players from across the region. The day begins at 8:00 a.m., promising a full schedule of fast-paced and engaging matches.

What is The Dink Minor League Pickleball?

The Dink Minor League Pickleball is a fresh approach to competitive play that combines fun, teamwork, and strategy. The event uses the MLPlay™ format, where each team includes four players — two women and two men.

Teams play four games per match: one women’s doubles, one men’s doubles, and two mixed doubles. Each game is played to 21 points. If both teams win two games each, the match is decided by a tiebreaker called the Dreambreaker™.

How the Dreambreaker™ Works

In the Dreambreaker™, each team picks players to take turns playing singles. Players switch every four rallies until one team reaches 21 points and wins by two. This format adds excitement and gives both men and women equal opportunities to compete in a shared team structure.

Innovative Format, Social Focus

The Dink Minor League Pickleball format has grown rapidly in popularity due to its innovative rules and friendly environment. Events like this are helping to make pickleball more social and inclusive, while still being competitive.

A Platform for Amateurs

This team-based competition is focused on amateur players looking for a fresh and exciting way to play. The Dink Minor League Pickleball format breaks from traditional brackets, offering a more dynamic tournament experience.

With team strategy and rotation built into the rules, it’s not just about skill, but also teamwork and adaptability on the court.
