Dallas Flash Pickleball St. Louis Upset: Major League Pickleball’s St. Louis event wrapped up with a packed schedule of matches and a vibrant crowd at Chaifetz Arena. The St. Louis Shock hosted the tournament in a full-scale sports arena, bringing fans close to the action. Over the weekend, the Dallas Flash, who were previously undefeated, faced their toughest test of the season.
St. Louis Sets a New Standard for Hosting
The St. Louis Shock impressed players and fans by organizing the event in a professional sports arena. The setup made for a strong and energetic atmosphere, with fans sitting close to the courts. Every seat offered a great view of the action.
St. Louis set a new example for how MLP events could be run. The tight layout helped bring energy to every match and made the entire event more fun for the crowd.
Dallas Flash Faces Their First Setbacks
The Dallas Flash came into the St. Louis tournament without a single loss. But they left with two defeats and only earned two points after a DreamBreaker win over the Chicago Slice.
Dallas was led by the mixed doubles team of JW Johnson and Jorja Johnson. That pair went 5-0 over the weekend. They continue to show they are the strongest mixed team in Major League Pickleball.
However, the other three Dallas doubles teams struggled, each ending with a 2-3 record. That is a concern for the team as they head into the final part of the season.
The women’s doubles team of Jorja Johnson and Tyra Black, who have been dominant before, didn’t look as strong this time.
“Expect everyone to now be a little down on Dallas, which may actually help them. It is hard to be undefeated (just ask the 2007 New England Patriots).”
The Dallas Flash are still expected to finish second in the overall standings. That would give them a first-round bye in the playoffs. They have time to make changes and still have one of the deepest lineups in Major League Pickleball, with only the St. Louis Shock matching their talent.
