St. Louis Shock Clinches No. 1 Playoff Seed in Dramatic MLP Dallas Finale

St. Louis Shock Top Playoff Seed: The St. Louis Shock clinched the No. 1 seed at Major League Pickleball Dallas after a tight race with the Dallas Flash. Although the two teams never played each other during the tournament, their performances were closely watched, with the final outcome decided on Sunday, the last day of matches.

Final Race for the Top Spot

Heading into MLP Dallas, the St. Louis Shock had a small lead over the Dallas Flash. Over the weekend, both teams kept winning, and the battle for the top spot stayed very close. St. Louis kept their edge, but Dallas stayed close behind, hoping for a chance to pass them on the final day.

By Sunday, Dallas still had a shot at the top seed. They needed strong results in their last two matches. One of those matches was against the Los Angeles team, which featured star player Ben Johns. To beat St. Louis in the standings, Dallas needed to win the match either 4-0 or 3-1.

Dallas Falls Short on Sunday

In the women’s doubles match, Tyra Hurricane Black and Jorja Johnson gave Dallas a good start. They beat Jade Kawamoto and Catherine Parenteau with a clear 11-3 win. That kept Dallas in the race.

Next, in the men’s doubles, Ben Johns and Hunter Johnson of Los Angeles defeated JW Johnson and Augie Ge 11-5. That made things tougher for Dallas.

Dallas now had to win both mixed doubles matches to stay in the hunt. In the first mixed doubles match, Ben Johns and Catherine Parenteau beat JW Johnson and Jorja Johnson 11-8. That result ended Dallas’ chances of taking the top seed. With that win, St. Louis Shock officially secured the No. 1 spot.

What This Means

St. Louis Shock’s consistent performance over the tournament gave them the edge they needed. Even though they didn’t face Dallas Flash directly, their wins and the outcomes of Dallas’ matches gave them just enough to finish at the top.

The playoffs will now begin with St. Louis in the best position, having secured the No. 1 seed. Dallas Flash, despite coming close, will enter the playoffs with the second seed.
