Pickleball Team earned its third win of the season on Thursday, August 1, 2025, with a 3-2 victory over the Bay Area Breakers in a close Challenger Level match at The Picklr MLP Salt Lake City in Kaysville, Utah. The contest was decided by a tight DreamBreaker, which D.C. won 22-20.
Back-and-forth start in doubles play
The Bay Area Breakers struck first in women’s doubles. Alix Truong and Angie Walker edged Christa Gecheva and Andrea Koop 11-9 to take the opening point.
D.C. Pickleball Team answered right away. In men’s doubles, Daniel De La Rosa and Rafa Hewett took down Darrian Young and Collin Johns 11-7, evening the match at 1-1.
Teams split mixed doubles
In mixed doubles game one, Daniel De La Rosa and Christa Gecheva teamed up to beat Collin Johns and Angie Walker 11-7. The win gave D.C. the lead.
The Breakers weren’t done yet. In the second mixed doubles game, Darrian Young and Alix Truong came through for Bay Area, topping Andrea Koop and Rafa Hewett 11-6 to tie the match 2-2 and force a DreamBreaker.
