International Stars and Bold Trades Ignite MLP Australia’s Midseason Draft—Can New Lineups Change the Game?

MLP Australia Midseason Draft Shakeup: The 2025 Major League Pickleball Australia season has reached its halfway mark, and the midseason shuffle draft has brought big changes. Held last week, the draft saw teams across the league sign new players to strengthen their lineups ahead of the finals, which will begin next month.

Key Draft Signings

Bondi made major moves by adding United States pro Max Manthou, also known as “Purple Jesus,” New Zealand’s Katherine Westbury, and tactical specialist Louis Laville. The additions boost the team’s speed, power, and strategy.

The Stars reshaped their squad with Victorian player Katerina Valos, Japanese standout Mayu Ito, and three-time MLPA champion Rob Stirling. The team is now seen as a strong finals contender.

The Aces welcomed aggressive international player Ekaterina Biakina and United States pro Jason Bock, whose experience could help in close matches. Sydney selected China’s Yufei Long, known for her consistency and resilience.

The Vipers went for variety, signing Carlota Trevino, Australian rising star Alesha Horridge, and American Rob Cassidy, famous for his energy and creative defense. Hustle improved their women’s roster by adding United States player Camila Garcia Wright, bringing speed and flair.

Breakers added Hong Kong’s Nok Yiu Tang, a patient and skilled defender. Surge went international with Vietnam’s Ken Ho Tam and Filipino-American doubles veteran Ruben A. Gonzales Jr. The Crocs signed Malaysian singles specialist Jimmy Liong, while Glory secured American Rob Nunnery and South Korea’s Mihae Kwon.

The midseason shuffle draft is a strategic turning point. Teams will now focus on building chemistry with new members while adapting to fresh playing styles. Fans can expect some early adjustments but also the chance for breakout performances.
