MLP and DUPR: In a thrilling development for pickleball enthusiasts, Minor League Pickleball, presented by MLP and DUPR, is set to elevate the sport’s competitive landscape with a new series of amateur team tournaments. The initiative offers an exciting opportunity for players to test their skills and potentially secure a coveted spot in the 2024 The Dink Minor League Pickleball National Championship, scheduled for December 13-15 in Fenton, MO.
The Minor League Pickleball tournaments will feature teams of four players, including two women and two men, competing in a unique and engaging format. This format incorporates innovative twists on traditional match-ups and scoring, reflecting the high standards of professional play with the MLPlay system. Teams will face off in a series of matches designed to mirror the competitive intensity seen at the highest levels of the sport.
Participants will compete in various DUPR divisions based on their team’s aggregate DUPR rating:
– DUPR 20: The team’s total DUPR must not exceed 20.99.
– DUPR 18: The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 18.30, with individual players’ DUPR capped at 5.10.
– DUPR 16: The team’s total DUPR must not exceed 16.30, and individual players’ DUPR cannot exceed 4.60.
– DUPR 14: The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 14.30, with a maximum individual player DUPR of 4.10.
Once registered, a team’s ratings are locked, ensuring that changes in individual DUPR scores will not affect the team’s division placement.
For players looking to participate without a full team, single registrations are welcomed. Those who sign up individually but are not placed on a team will receive a refund, minus Stripe and processing fees. The tournament director will make efforts to place single registrants on teams, but availability is not guaranteed.
Additionally, teams may need to substitute players if necessary. The process allows teams to update their rosters via the Swish platform or submit substitute information directly to the tournament organizer. It’s important to note that substitutes’ DUPR ratings must not cause the team’s aggregate to exceed the maximum allowed for their division.
The event’s cancellation policy stipulates that cancellations must be made at least 15 days before the start date to receive a refund, minus a $5 technology fee and a 3% processing fee. After this period, no refunds will be issued. Individual registrations will be refunded 3-5 business days after the event concludes if participants are not placed on a team.
With the action set to unfold at Pickleball Virginia Beach, located at 928 South Birdneck Road, the tournaments promise to be a highlight for amateur players seeking to show their talents on a national stage. Tournament directors David Tabb and Martin Michaelson will oversee the events, ensuring a smoothly run and competitive series.
For more details or to register, contact David Tabb & Martin Michaelson at 786-303-5935 or via email at [email protected].
