The Dink Minor League Pickleball: A New Era in Amateur Competition

The Dink Minor League Pickleball: The Dink Minor League Pickleball is making waves across the nation with its fresh and exciting approach to amateur pickleball competition. This innovative league promises to bring a new level of excitement to the sport, blending fun and social play with a competitive edge through its unique MLPlay format.

 Format and Gameplay

At the heart of Minor League Pickleball is the MLPlay format, designed to maximize engagement and show the talents of men and women on equal footing. Each team consists of four players—two men and two women—competing in a series of matches. The format includes:

Four 21-point games: Teams battle it out in women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and two mixed doubles games.

Dreambreaker: If teams are tied 2-2 after the initial games, they face off in a high-stakes singles match. Each team sends one player to compete, switching players every four rallies until a player reaches 21 points, winning by a margin of two.

This format introduces strategic depth and excitement, making every game and match crucial to a team’s success.

DUPR Divisions

Teams will compete in various divisions based on their DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating):

DUPR 20: Aggregate team DUPR not to exceed 20.99
DUPR 18: Aggregate team DUPR not to exceed 18.30 (individual player DUPR must not exceed 5.10)
DUPR 16: Aggregate team DUPR not to exceed 16.30 (individual player DUPR must not exceed 4.60)
DUPR 14: Aggregate team DUPR not to exceed 14.30 (individual player DUPR must not exceed 4.10)
DUPR 12: Aggregate team DUPR not to exceed 12.30 (individual player DUPR must not exceed 3.60)

Once registered, a team’s DUPR ratings are locked, ensuring that changes in individual ratings do not affect the team’s division or placement.

Substitute Players and Cancellations

Teams may need to substitute players if necessary. Substitutes must not push the team’s aggregate DUPR above the division maximum. Teams can manage substitutions through the Swish platform or by contacting the tournament organizer.

The cancellation policy states that to receive a refund minus the $5 technology fee and a 3% processing fee, cancellations must be made at least 15 days before the event’s start date. For example, for an event starting June 15, 2024, cancellations must be received by June 1, 2024. No refunds will be issued after this date.

Individual Registrations

Players registering individually but not placed on a team will receive a full refund minus the $5 technology fee and a 3% processing fee 3-5 business days after the event concludes.
