MLP’s Premier Level Dreambreaker: While the Major League Pickleball (MLP) season has seen impressive performances from many top players, some competitors have struggled in the Dreambreaker format. This analysis highlights the challenges faced by the bottom five men in Dreambreakers at the Premier Level, exploring their performances and how they’ve impacted their teams.
JW Johnson: A Top Player Struggling in Dreambreakers
JW Johnson, known as a top-15 singles player on the PPA Tour, has faced considerable difficulties in Dreambreakers this year. Despite his high singles ranking, Johnson has won only 40% of his points in Dreambreakers, securing 14 out of 35 points played.
Competing for the Dallas Flash, Johnson has faced tough opponents throughout the season, and while his overall singles game remains strong, his performance in this format has been a surprising struggle.
Jack Sock: High Volume, Low Returns
Jack Sock has played more Dreambreaker points than anyone else in MLP, but unfortunately, he’s also lost the most. With a success rate of 39.80%, Sock has won just 39 points while conceding 59, resulting in a -20 differential.
As the top singles player for the New York Hustlers, Sock often faces the opposing team’s best player, but his results in his first MLP season have been underwhelming. This performance is unexpected, especially considering that his teammates, CJ Klinger and Jackie Kawamoto, rank among the top performers in their categories.

Thomas Wilson: Underperforming for the LA Mad Drops
Thomas Wilson has also had a tough time in Dreambreakers, winning only 38.71% of his points for the Los Angeles Mad Drops. With just 12 points secured out of 31 played, Wilson’s struggles in this format have been apparent.
His inability to consistently outperform his opponents has contributed to a -7 point differential, impacting his team’s overall standing in Dreambreakers this season.
Jay Devilliers: A Season of Challenges
Jay Devilliers, competing for the Columbus Sliders, has won 37.04% of his Dreambreaker points, securing just 10 out of 27 played. His -7 point differential reflects the challenges he has faced throughout the season.
Known for his strong doubles play, Devilliers has struggled to translate that success into the Dreambreaker format, where singles skills are often more critical.
Tyler Loong: Below Expectations
Rounding out the bottom five is Tyler Loong of the Utah Black Diamonds. Loong has had a difficult season in Dreambreakers, winning only 35.90% of his points. With just 14 points won and 25 lost across 39 played, Loong’s performance is well below his usual level of play.
His -11 point differential highlights his struggles, making him one of the weakest performers in Dreambreakers this year.
