New Jersey 5s Take Down DC Pickleball Team: Sunday’s second contest at Championship Court featured a highly anticipated rematch from the Midseason Tournament final, as the New Jersey 5s faced off against the DC Pickleball Team at MLP Miami. Their previous encounter had been hailed as one of the best matches of the year, and fans were eager to see if this clash could live up to the hype.

Changes in the Line Up

However, this time, the DC Pickleball Team entered the match with a different roster. Ryan Fu filled in for James Ignatowich, who was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 draft. Despite the lineup changes, the DC Pickleball Team was ready to battle.

The match progressed to a DreamBreaker, reminiscent of their previous showdown in Grand Rapids. In the end, the New Jersey 5s emerged victorious, claiming the win with a decisive score of 21-13.

Standout Performance by Mari Humberg

Mari Humberg delivered a standout performance in singles for the New Jersey 5s, outscoring DC Pickleball Team’s Vivian Glozman with an impressive 7-1 tally through two rotations. Her strong play was a critical factor in the New Jersey 5s’ success and highlighted her importance to the team’s overall strategy.

With this victory, the New Jersey 5s climbed to 51 points on the season, just one point behind the St. Louis Shock for the top spot in the standings. Although they have one match remaining on their schedule, the New Jersey 5s are not overly concerned about their post-season placement.
