Chicago Slice Dominates Regulation MLP Matches: The Chicago Slice earned an impressive eight points in four matches, securing the overall #1 seed for the playoffs in the Major League Pickleball (MLP) season. Their performance solidified their position as a top contender, even if they did not dominate every match.
Strong Regulation Matches
In regulation play, the Chicago Slice delivered strong performances, defeating the Florida Smash with a commanding score of 4-0 and overcoming the Brooklyn Aces with a 3-1 victory.
However, the Chicago Slice faced setbacks in Dreambreaker matches against the Miami Pickleball Club and Atlanta Bouncers. Despite not blowing away the competition, the Chicago Slice did enough to clinch the coveted #1 spot.

Midseason Addition: Megan Fudge
Megan Fudge‘s arrival midseason proved pivotal for the Chicago Slice. Picked up during the first waiver wire period, Megan Fudge was part of a group known as the “fab five.” This group consisted of five women who opted out of the draft but later decided to join Major League Pickleball.
Each of these players made an immediate impact on their respective teams, but Megan Fudge stood out as the most significant addition. She has posted an impressive 30-10 record in doubles, boasting a remarkable +108 point differential.
Looking Ahead
As the Chicago Slice prepares for the upcoming playoffs, excitement is noticeable as they anticipate promotion to Premier Level in 2025.
However, there are concerns regarding their performance in Dreambreaker matches, where the Chicago Slice has struggled with a 2-7 record throughout the year.
This inconsistency in intense situations could be their Achilles’ heel in the playoffs, but only time will tell how the Chicago Slice will fare against the best.
