Brooklyn Aces Heartbreaking MLP Season: The Brooklyn Aces is deeply committed to the organization’s success, featuring a dedicated general manager, a coach, a trainer, and a full-time social media manager. However, the result of their efforts ended in heartbreak at the Major League Pickleball (MLP) Miami event.
Struggles After Trade
Despite high expectations, the Brooklyn Aces never truly found their rhythm after trading for Pablo Tellez. Although Pablo Tellez appeared ready to embrace the challenge of competing in the Challenger Level, he ultimately finished as the 30th-ranked Challenger player with a record of 15 wins and 15 losses, coupled with a -7 overall point differential.

Pre-Miami Positioning
Heading into MLP Miami, the Brooklyn Aces were in sixth place in terms of points per match, having accumulated 28 points from 19 matches and averaging 1.47 points per match.
The Brooklyn Aces were considered the favorites to secure the sixth playoff seed, trailing the Bay Area Breakers by only four points while being well ahead of the Florida Smash and Frisco Pandas, who had 26 and 23 points, respectively.
The general consensus was that the Brooklyn Aces needed to earn five points from their four matches to surpass the Bay Area Breakers and clinch the final playoff spot.
Disappointing Results in Miami
However, the Brooklyn Aces’ performance in Miami fell short of expectations. They won just one match in regulation, lost two matches in regulation, and suffered defeat in a Dreambreaker, ultimately earning only four points from their four matches.
The Brooklyn Aces started their campaign with a loss to the Frisco Pandas, falling 1-3. In that match, the Brooklyn Aces’ women lost a closely contested game, 28-30, against Tammy Emmrich and Ewa Radzikowska. Had the Brooklyn Aces secured that victory, it would have provided the extra point needed to surpass the Bay Area Breakers and Frisco Pandas.
On Day 2, the Brooklyn Aces managed to secure a 3-1 victory over the Miami Pickleball Club. However, Day 3 proved pivotal, as the Brooklyn Aces lost in a Dreambreaker to the Atlanta Bouncers, with a score of 17-21, and the doubles matches were not particularly close.
The fate of the Brooklyn Aces rested on their match against the Chicago Slice, where they needed to secure at least one point to overtake the Bay Area Breakers, who held the tiebreakers against them.
The decisive moment for the Brooklyn Aces came with a narrow 23-25 loss in men’s doubles to the Chicago Slice. Had the Brooklyn Aces managed to turn that match around, they would have forced a Dreambreaker, potentially keeping their playoff hopes alive.
A Season of Missed Potential
The Brooklyn Aces entered the season with high aspirations, but the team struggled to gel and fully capitalize on their potential.
The combination of missed opportunities and injuries ultimately led to the Brooklyn Aces early exit from playoff contention, leaving the team to reflect on what could have been.
