MiLP Southeast Regional Pickleball Showdown Brings Big Prizes and Dreams to Lakeland

MiLP Southeast Regional Pickleball Showdown: Pickleball enthusiasts from across the nation will converge for the Southeast Regional Showdown, hosted by All Florida Pickleball at the Lone Palm Country Club Lakeland, Florida. Running from November 8 to 10, 2024, this event promises to deliver the exciting and fast-paced action of Minor League Pickleball (MLP), offering a unique and social team experience. The regional showdown will feature top-tier competition and a chance for teams to secure coveted Dream Tickets to the National Championship.

Innovative Format and Schedule

The Southeast Regional Showdown will showcase the future of pickleball through the Minor League Pickleball format. Teams will battle in a series of Division-based events, where players are assigned a DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) that helps determine the level of competition.

  • Friday, November 8: DUPR 22
  • Saturday, November 9: DUPR 14 & DUPR 18
  • Sunday, November 10: DUPR 16 & DUPR 20

A minimum of three matches per team (12 games total) guarantees plenty of action for all participants, regardless of the outcome.

Prizes and Recognition

As teams progress through the tournament, medals will be awarded for the top three finishers in each DUPR division. Here’s a breakdown of the prize money for each DUPR group:

  • DUPR 18: 1st – $1000, 2nd – $800
  • DUPR 20: 1st – $1200, 2nd – $1000
  • DUPR 22: 1st – $1500, 2nd – $1200

Each Regional Showdown participant will earn points toward their respective DUPR Divisions on the National Leaderboard, and the first-place team in every division will secure a Dream Ticket to the National Championship.

Team Registration and Rules

For those looking to participate, registration is open with a fee ranging from $75.00 to $150.00 per player, last date for registration is November 7, 2024. Teams can register together, or players can register individually and request to be placed on a team by the tournament director. Players should specify their team name and DUPR division at the time of registration (e.g., “Mad Drops – 18”).

Substitutes

Teams may submit player substitutions with approval from the tournament director. A substitute’s DUPR rating must not push the team’s aggregate over the maximum allowed for their division.

Dream Ticket Opportunity

The grand prize for each first-place team is a Dream Ticket to the National Championship, where they will compete in the division they qualified for, as long as the team remains intact. If a team needs to substitute players, they can replace up to two teammates, but they must remain within the DUPR limit for their division. If a first-place team cannot attend the National Championship with at least two original players, the second-place team will be offered their Dream Ticket.
