  • Dream Ticket National Championship Qualifier
  • Date: November 9, 2024
  • Location: Marcus JCC of Atlanta, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338

Tournament Overview and Format

In this tournament, teams are structured with four players—two men and two women—competing in a series of fast-paced matches that test every player’s versatility. The Dink Minor League format, known as MLPlay, challenges teams in four 21-point games, including women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and two rounds of mixed doubles.

If the teams tie at two games each, they face off in a thrilling Dreambreaker tiebreaker, where individual players rotate every four rallies in a singles match to secure victory.

The event aims to provide a level playing field by using the innovative MLPlay format that promotes competitive intensity and social engagement. With such an inclusive structure, this championship promises to draw in participants and spectators.

Qualification for Nationals

Teams participating in the Atlanta event will battle in various divisions based on skill levels, from ages 12 to 50+. Only first-place teams in each division will advance to the highly anticipated 2024 National Championship in St. Louis, Missouri, set to take place from December 13-15.

Securing a Dream Ticket to Nationals is no small feat, and the stakes are high for competitors looking to make their mark on a national level.

DUPR Divisions and Rating Requirements

Competitors will play within their respective DUPR divisions, ensuring balanced competition across all skill levels. Division ratings are locked once a team registers, preventing any shifts in team rating aggregates that might alter division placement. Teams must stay within the specific DUPR rating limits for each division:

  • DUPR 18: Aggregate rating up to 18.30, max individual rating of 5.10
  • DUPR 16: Aggregate rating up to 16.30, max individual rating of 4.60
  • DUPR 14: Aggregate rating up to 14.30, max individual rating of 4.10
  • DUPR 12: Aggregate rating up to 12.30, max individual rating of 3.60

These requirements ensure that all matches remain competitive and fair, giving each team a clear path toward their division’s top spot.

Single Entries, and Substitutions

For players registering solo, the tournament director will work to place them on teams needing additional members. Those without team placements will receive a full refund of registration fees.

Teams requiring a substitute can update rosters via Swish, with the condition that any substitute must not push the team’s rating above the event’s division cap.
