Location and Format
The pickleball event will feature the innovative MLPlay format, which is designed to elevate the social aspect of pickleball while offering a competitive twist. Teams will consist of four players—two women and two men—competing against each other in a unique set of matches. The format includes:
- Four 21-point games: One women’s doubles, one men’s doubles, and two mixed doubles.
- Dreambreaker™: If the match is tied at 2-2, a special singles event occurs, where one player from each team faces off in a rally format until one reaches 21 points.
The average age of the teams participating must be 55+, making this a special event for seasoned players to show their skills.
Registration and Fees
The registration fee is set at $60 per player, and players are required to have a DUPR rating to sign up. However, players without a DUPR rating can attend a DUPR Rating Clinic before the event for free, held on November 11, 2024, at The Esplanade at Tradition. For those registering as individuals, it is important to note their team name and the appropriate DUPR division to ensure proper placement.
DUPR Divisions
There are multiple divisions based on the DUPR rating system:
- DUPR 20: Team’s aggregate must not exceed 20.99
- DUPR 18: Team’s aggregate must not exceed 18.30 (maximum individual rating of 5.10)
- DUPR 16: Team’s aggregate must not exceed 16.30 (maximum individual rating of 4.60)
- DUPR 14: Team’s aggregate must not exceed 14.30 (maximum individual rating of 4.10)
- DUPR 12: Team’s aggregate must not exceed 12.30 (maximum individual rating of 3.60)
Once a team registers, their ratings are locked in, and changes will not affect the team’s division placement.
