This event is designed to be competitive and accessible, offering pickleball players a chance to compete in a unique team format. The Dink Minor League Pickleball is rapidly becoming a popular choice across the nation with its innovative MLPlay Team Event.
Pickleball Tournament Format
The Minor League Pickleball tournament will feature teams of four players: two men and two women. These teams will face off in a format that twists traditional pickleball competition to keep things exciting.
- MLPlay Format: Teams play four 21-point games—one women’s doubles, one men’s doubles, and two mixed doubles.
- Dreambreaker Tiebreaker: If teams are tied 2-2 after the four games, the Dreambreaker™ comes into play. This unique tiebreaker has one player from each team compete in singles, alternating every four rallies, until someone wins by two points.
DUPR Divisions: Tailoring the Competition
The event features different DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) divisions, allowing players of all skill levels to compete. Each division has specific team and individual player requirements, ensuring a balanced and fair competition.
DUPR Divisions
- DUPR 20: Team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 20.99.
- DUPR 18: Maximum individual DUPR of 5.10 (team’s aggregate ≤ 18.30).
- DUPR 16: Maximum individual DUPR of 4.60 (team’s aggregate ≤ 16.30).
- DUPR 14: Maximum individual DUPR of 4.10 (team’s aggregate ≤ 14.30).
- DUPR 12: Maximum individual DUPR of 3.60 (team’s aggregate ≤ 12.30).
Important: Once a team registers, their DUPR ratings are locked for the event, meaning changes in individual ratings will not affect the team’s division.
Registration Options and Guidelines
- Single Registrations: Players who are registering individually but are part of a team should provide their team name and DUPR division (e.g., “Mad Drops – 18”).
- No Team? No Problem: Players who cannot form a team will be placed with others by the tournament director. If placement is not possible, registration fees will be refunded.
- Substitute Players: Teams in need of a substitute player can either edit their team roster online or contact the tournament organizer directly. Substitute players must not push the team’s total DUPR above the allowed limit.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
- Cancellation Deadline: Cancellations must be received at least 15 days before the event to receive a partial refund (minus a $5 technology fee and a 3% processing fee).
- Refunds for Individual Registrations: Players who sign up individually but are not placed on a team will receive a full refund, minus the fees, after the event ends.
