Minor League Pickleball Format
The Dink Minor League Pickleball introduces a unique and engaging team format that is rapidly gaining popularity across the country. Teams consist of four players (two women and two men) competing in a format designed to foster fun, competitiveness, and social interaction.
- MLPlay Format: Each team competes in four 21-point games, including women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and two mixed doubles games. In case of a 2-2 tie after all four games, teams head into the Dreambreaker, where one player from each team faces off in singles, alternating every four rallies until one player reaches 21 points, winning by two.
DUPR Divisions
Each division has its own DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) requirements to ensure fair competition:
- DUPR 12: Team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 12.30. Individual player DUPR max: 3.60.
- DUPR 14: Team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 14.30. Individual player DUPR max: 4.10.
- DUPR 16: Team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 16.30. Individual player DUPR max: 4.60.
- DUPR 18: Team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 18.30. Individual player DUPR max: 5.10.
Once registered, a team’s DUPR is locked in, meaning any rating changes after registration do not impact the team’s division placement.
Single Registration and Substitutes
- Single Registration: Players registering solo, but already part of a team, should specify their team name and division during registration. If unable to form a team, the tournament director will assist in team placement.
- Substitute Players: Teams needing a substitute player can either update their team via Swish or submit the substitute information directly to the pickleball tournament organizer. The substitute player’s DUPR should not exceed the team’s maximum aggregate rating.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
To receive a refund (minus a $5 technology fee and 3% processing fee), cancellations must occur at least 15 days before the event’s start date. For example, if the event starts on January 3, 2025, cancellations must be submitted by December 19, 2024.
- No Refund After: 15 days prior to the event.
- Individual Registration Refunds: If a solo player cannot be placed on a team, a full refund (minus fees) will be provided.
