Johns shared that while he always expects to win, he’s aware that the first tournaments with a new partner may come with challenges. “You definitely don’t want to be egotistical about it… but it’s always the philosophy of going into any tournament that I do expect to win,” Johns said.
However, he also acknowledged that a loss wouldn’t be the end of the world. “If we were to lose, I’d be like, ‘It’s a new partnership.’ It’s not the end of the world. These things happen.”
He emphasized the importance of taking the process in stride and not putting too much pressure on immediate success.
Future Tournament Plans
In addition to Tardio, Johns also confirmed he would be partnering with Hayden Patriquin and Max Freeman for select tournaments in 2025. This variety in partnerships is part of Johns’ strategy to keep things fresh and develop his game.
A Possible Reunion with Collin Johns
Despite splitting from his brother Collin for the 2025 season, Ben Johns hasn’t ruled out the idea of a reunion. “I think variety is really good… it’s probably just healthier for both of us to get a little bit of a change and maybe get some more enthusiasm for the game,” Johns explained.
The brothers have achieved incredible success together, with 33 titles and 43 medals, as well as a 74% podium percentage and a 56% title percentage. While they may take a break from teaming up, the possibility of reuniting in the future remains open.
