Proton Australia Pickleball Open Women’s Doubles Final: The Proton Australia Open women’s doubles competition is heating up, with top-seeded pairings Allyce Jones and Tyra Black, and Lacy Schneemann and Vivian Glozman, advancing to the final. Both teams are now just one win away from claiming the title after dominating their quarterfinal and semifinal matchups on Friday.
Jones and Black Overcome Top International Talent
Allyce Jones and Tyra Black had a tough route to the final, facing strong international opponents in their quarterfinal and semifinal matches.
In the quarterfinals, they battled Roos van Reek and Kaitlynn Hart, followed by a semifinal clash against Emilia Schmidt and Danni-Elle Townsend. Despite the challenging matchups, the pair won comfortably, with a dominant 11-6, 11-5 victory over Schmidt and Townsend.
Jones, known for her strong right-side play, spent more time on the left during these matches, a strategy she has been working on.
“I’ve been working on that for the past few months since I have my own court at home. Tyra was nice enough to give me the opportunity, and I think it’s a good way for us to switch things up if something isn’t working.” – (Jones)

Black Shouts Out Aussie Fans
After the semifinal win, Tyra Black expressed her love for the Australian crowd. Reflecting on her previous experience in Australia, where she played in the Junior Australian Open, she said,
“When I first came to Australia for the Junior Australian Open back when I played tennis, it was the coolest thing ever because I had these fans come out and cheer me on. That was really the first time that I experienced something like that, so I absolutely love the fans in Australia. They have so much energy, and they’re so much fun.” – (Tyra Black)
Schneemann and Glozman Cruise to Final
Lacy Schneemann and Vivian Glozman, the No. 2 seeds, also impressed on Friday. They had no trouble in their semifinal, easily defeating Jessie Irvine and Alix Truong 11-7, 11-6.
Schneemann gave her thoughts on what to expect in the final against Jones and Black, noting the challenges posed by their opponents’ strong defense and the indoor conditions.
“In these conditions, it’ll be extra tough because [Allyce and Tyra] have crazy good defense, and with the Franklin indoors it’ll be pretty hard to put the ball away, so I expect some very long rallies. We try to bring a lot of firepower; you’ll see us drive, crash, and hit the ball hard, but expect long points.” – (Schneemann)
