Upsets Shake Up the Women’s Draw
Christian, the most recognized PPA touring pro in the draw, faced a near-elimination moment against No. 14 seed Roos van Reek from the Netherlands. Van Reek, a two-time MLP Australia champ, put up a strong fight, but Christian ultimately prevailed.
The tournament also saw major upsets. No. 2 seed Ekaterina Biakina was upset by No. 11 Australian Andie Dikosavljevic in the quarterfinals. No. 3 seed Jessie Irvine was also knocked out by No. 12 seed Somer Dalla-Bona. Dalla-Bona, after dominating Dikosavljevic in a 6-0 match, advanced to the final.

In the gold medal match, Christian and Dalla-Bona battled hard in two closely contested games. Christian outlasted Dalla-Bona 10-8 in both games to clinch the gold medal.
