Dominant Performance Throughout the Tournament
Alshon showed exceptional performance throughout the tournament. He did not give up more than three points in any of the eight games he played across four matches. Alshon noted that top seed Federico Staksrud’s early exit helped him advance.
“[Fed] would have been my quarterfinal matchup, so I got a little lucky there. I’ve just been trying to play within myself, which is helping me play well.” – (Alshon)
A Strong Comeback from Injury
After struggling with injuries in 2024, Alshon made a strong start in 2025 with a quarterfinal run at the PPA Masters and a finals appearance in Tucson.
“I was out of singles for seven months, which is crazy because singles is where I started in the sport. I missed it so much because you can really show your athleticism. I think pickleball sometimes gets a bad rep for not being an athletic sport, but some of us singles guys really change that.” – (Alshon)
Looking Ahead to the Finals
The 24-year-old Alshon is now preparing to compete for his first PPA singles title. He will face either Dylan Frazier or Hunter Johnson in the final on Sunday. Alshon’s performance in Tucson highlights his remarkable return to form.
Significance of Alshon’s Journey
Alshon’s journey reflects the competitive nature of the PPA circuit and emphasizes the athleticism involved in pickleball. With his strong showing, Alshon is now positioned to make a significant impact in the sport as he continues to pursue his goals.
