Black and Alshon’s Strong Performance

Black and Alshon showcased their complementary styles during the match. Alshon used his height to aggressively attack third shots, while Black applied constant pressure at the kitchen line with her reach and quick counters. Their teamwork proved to be too much for Brascia and Johnson.

Alshon Reflects on Transitioning from Singles to Doubles

For Christian Alshon, this win marked his second final of the week after reaching the men’s singles final earlier in the tournament. He discussed the challenges of switching between singles and doubles on back-to-back days.

“They’re two completely different sports,” . “Coming in today after a full day of singles, it felt kind of weird to just stand at the kitchen and have balls get hit straight to me because that doesn’t really happen in singles.”-( Christian Alshon)

Looking Ahead to the Final

Black and Alshon will now face Waters and Johns in a highly anticipated rematch of their thrilling semifinal at the PPA Masters last month, which Waters and Johns won after saving four match points.

Despite the pressure of facing the top-seeded duo, Black is staying calm.

“It doesn’t make a difference to me if we win or lose—I’m just here to have fun and work my hardest, and that’s what I’m gonna do on Sunday,”-(Hurricane Tyra Black)
