Staksrud on Daescu’s Backward Hat Look

During a pre-match interview, Dylan Frazier asked Staksrud about his thoughts on Daescu’s signature backward hat look. Staksrud admitted that while Daescu is an imposing presence, the hat shift completely changes his image.

“I saw him like warming up with a hat like that, and I thought it was really funny. So I just, you know, when you look at him, he’s really tall and Romanian, you know, his accent, everything is, like, intimidating. And then when he puts the hat backwards, then everything goes away. So I hope he puts the hat backwards because it’s just funny. It looks funny now.” – (Staksrud)

Hayden Patriquin had no additional comment, simply agreeing with a, “No. That’s perfect.”

Daescu Responds: The Drama Stays on Court

When Frazier followed up with Daescu, he asked if he had any response to Staksrud’s remarks. However, Daescu dismissed the idea of any off-court tension, keeping the focus on competition.

“I think we’ll build up the drama on court. So, yeah, backward, forward hat, whatever hat. We’ve battled a lot, Federico and I, and obviously with Hayden as well. We know each other’s games.” – (Daescu)

Daescu reinforced that the real action would take place during the match rather than in pre-game talk.

“We’ve played a lot of matches together, and we leave the drama for the court, at least on my end.” – (Daescu)

The lighthearted exchange adds anticipation to the semifinals as the players prepare to show their skills on the court.
