Sock Stays Clutch Under Pressure
It wasn’t just Duong that Sock had to overcome—strong winds at the Lake Kennedy Racquet Center made conditions tricky, forcing both players to adjust their shots and play more conservatively.
Duong controlled the early stages of the match, taking the first game 11-7 and putting himself in prime position to win in Game 2. The 19-year-old held two match points at 10-8, but Sock refused to go down, digging deep to save both match points and force a decider with a 12-10 win.
With momentum on his side, Sock dominated Game 3, using his aggressive shot-making and court coverage to pull away for an 11-5 victory.
Quarterfinals Showdown Awaits
With the win, Sock improves to 4-0 all-time against Duong and continues his strong form in Cape Coral. He now awaits the winner of Max Freeman vs. George Rangelov, with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
