Goins Builds on Cape Coral Success

Goins, just 16 years old, has been making waves on the PPA Tour in recent weeks. He is coming off a breakthrough performance at the Cape Coral Open, where he earned his first career PPA medal and stunned world No. 1 Ben Johns in a major upset. His confidence and aggressive style of play have carried over into the Texas Open, where he has once again taken down a seeded player.

Strong Performance Against Tardio

The match against Tardio started as a tight battle, with both players exchanging fast-paced rallies in the opening game. Goins showed composure beyond his years, edging out a 12-10 win in a closely contested first game.

In the second game, Goins took full control. He dictated play with powerful groundstrokes and relentless pressure, forcing errors from Tardio and cruising to an 11-5 victory to close out the match in straight games.

Quarterfinal Spot on the Line

With the win, Goins moves into the Round of 16, where he will face either Hunter Johnson or Edward Perez. Both players bring experience and strong skill sets, but Goins’ recent performances suggest he is capable of making another deep run in the tournament.

A win in his next match would put him in the quarterfinals, marking another milestone in what is quickly becoming a breakout season for the young star.
