Mixed Doubles Contenders

Johns and Waters enter as the top favorites, but Jorja Johnson and JW Johnson, seeded second, will challenge them. The lower half of the draw features several contenders, including #3 Christian Alshon/Catherine Parenteau, #6 Rachel Rohrabacher/Dekel Bar, and #11 Hayden Patriquin/Kate Fahey.

One of the biggest threats to Johns and Waters could be #4 Anna Bright/Federico Staksrud. Staksrud has yet to achieve major success in mixed doubles, but pairing with Bright gives him a strong chance.

Potential Breakthrough Teams

Lower-seeded teams with promising draws include #10 Andrei Daescu/Meghan Dizon and #15 Max Freeman/Tyra Black. Freeman, a left-handed player, complements Black’s aggressive play on the left side. While Freeman has made strides in singles, his ability to compete at a high level in doubles remains to be seen.

Looking Ahead

With a deep field, the Veolia North Carolina Open promises intense mixed doubles action. The top seeds are expected to advance, but lower-ranked teams could make surprise runs. Fans can anticipate competitive matchups leading into the later rounds.
