Late-Game Heroics Seal the Win
After splitting the first two games, the No. 3 seeded Alshon/Daescu duo took a commanding 8-3 lead in the final game and later held four match points at 10-5. But the match was far from over.
Oncins and Frazier saved every match point, tied the score at 10-10, and then delivered two more clutch points to win the match and ignite the crowd in one of the most dramatic turnarounds of the 2025 PPA season.
Frazier Credits Oncins for Energy and Focus
Frazier praised his partner for staying locked in and bringing energy even during difficult moments on court.
“It helps a lot, especially against a team like Andrei and Christian. That team has been playing lights-out, so keeping the energy the entire time, even when you lose a few points, is huge. I’ve been feeling down a little bit these past few days with an illness, but Eric was keeping me mentally present and focused. I think [Andrei and Christian] are the hottest team on tour right now, but I think I’ve got the hottest player by my side.” – (Frazier)
Semifinal Clash Set with Ben Johns and Gabe Tardio
The victory earns Oncins and Frazier a spot in Saturday’s semifinals, where they will take on the No. 2 seeds Ben Johns and Gabe Tardio. Johns and Tardio secured their own semifinal slot with a strong 11-7, 11-6 win over JW Johnson and CJ Klinger.
Comeback of the Year?
Oncins and Frazier’s win is already being called one of the most exciting moments of the tournament—and perhaps of the season. Saving four match points against one of the tour’s most dominant teams has set the bar high as the championship draws near.
