Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau Pickleball Final: Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau advanced to the women’s doubles final at the Veolia North Carolina Open after defeating Lacy Schneemann and Parris Todd 11-5, 11-7 at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, NC. The win came Friday as the top-seeded duo held off a second-game rally.
Top Seeds Stay on Track
Waters and Parenteau, the tournament’s top-ranked team, looked sharp early. They took control quickly in the first game and continued their momentum in the second. Leading 8-2, it seemed they would win easily. But Schneemann and Todd, playing together for the first time, pushed back hard.
Their comeback closed the gap to 6-8, threatening to force a third game. That’s when Waters turned up the pressure. Her aggressive play helped turn the tide and close out the match.

Waters Steps Up Under Pressure
Waters admitted she wasn’t fully locked in at the start.
“Usually when it’s tight, I tend to play better and move my feet more. I definitely need to start doing that earlier on in the games,”. “Especially in that first game, I felt like maybe I wasn’t playing my best, even though Catherine played really well.”(Anna Leigh Waters)
The 18-year-old found her rhythm just in time to secure a spot in Championship Sunday.
Waiting for the Next Opponent
Waters and Parenteau will face either Tyra Black and Jorja Johnson, the No. 3 seeds, or Jackie and Jade Kawamoto, the No. 6 seeds, in the final.
The Kawamoto sisters and Black/Johnson were scheduled to meet later to decide who will challenge the top seeds for the title.
Why It Matters
This win brings Waters and Parenteau one step closer to another championship. Their teamwork and ability to stay calm under pressure show why they remain one of the strongest teams on tour. Fans can expect a competitive final with big names and high energy.
