Tough Net Play Makes the Difference

Johnson and Black were strong in fast-paced exchanges. They outplayed Waters and Parenteau during rallies near the net and kept the pressure high throughout the match.

“AL came out super aggressive, and I knew that’s what we needed to do ourselves: just be aggressive and attack everything we could. Having Jorja next to me definitely gives me confidence. She has amazing hands, so I know I can just kind of do whatever I want out there.” – (Tyra Black)

Milestone for Johnson and Black

This title is Johnson’s first career women’s doubles win on the PPA Tour. For Black, it’s her second women’s doubles gold in just three weeks. She recently won another title in Texas alongside Parris Todd. Their win at Cary Tennis Park adds to a weekend filled with standout performances.

Later on Sunday, Johnson will try to win another title when she teams up with JW Johnson in the mixed doubles final against Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns.
