Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships Mixed Doubles Draw: Dave Fleming hosted the Draw Reveal Show for the 2025 Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships, presented by Ensure. The tournament’s mixed doubles bracket is public, showing key matchups and notable teams. Matches begin Tuesday and will continue through to Championship Sunday.
Big Names Set for a Tough Road
Jorja Johnson and JW Johnson are confidently entering the tournament. They recently defeated Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters in North Carolina with a score of 11-8 in the fifth game. They also had a dominant showing at Major League Pickleball (MLP) Orlando while playing for the Dallas Flash.
Their journey in Atlanta won’t be easy. They may face Callie Smith and Jay Devilliers, followed by Jessie Irvine and Gabriel Tardio, who had a solid run last year. If they advance, they could play Etta Tuionetoa and Christian Alshon.
“So, not an easy path to the final, but everyone that has to run into them would say the same in return.” – (fleming)
Top Half Bracket Highlights
Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters are the top seeds. They could face Brooke Buckner and Connor Garnett in the early rounds. Riley Newman and Lindsay Newman are reuniting for the first time since August 2023. Fleming described them as, “brother sister have a lot of wins in their history but it’s not recent history but they are going to be fun to watch as the 14 seed.”
Anna Bright is playing with Quang Duong. They placed fourth in Dallas last year and are expected to be strong. Hayden Patriquin and Jaume Martinez Vich, known for surprises, are seeded 10th.
Jack Sock and Eugenie Bouchard, teammates on the Phoenix Flames, are aiming for a better performance after a disappointing MLP run. Catherine Parenteau and Federico Staksrud, always medal contenders, hold the third seed.
Another exciting match features Zane Ford and Victoria Dimuzio against Lucian Goins and Mya Bui. Fleming said, “That is potential all over the 20×44. Can’t wait to watch that one.”
Tyra Hurricane Black and James Ignatowich, known as Big Papa Jimmy, could go all the way. “That’s how much potential they have,” said Fleming. Andrei Daescu and Tina Pisnik, seeded ninth, have already reached a final as a team.
Lower Half Bracket and Rising Stars
The Johnson siblings lead the bottom half of the draw. Jessie Irvine and Gabriel Tardio are another strong pair. Eric Oncins and Milan Rane, the 28th seed, could surprise many. Rane performed very well in mixed doubles at MLP Columbus.
Lacy Schneemann and Tyson McGuffin, winners from Australia, hold the 12th seed. Christian Alshon and Etta Tuionetoa are also in this section. Noe Khlif and Lea Jansen are seeded 15th and are seen as underrated.
Lucy Kovalova and Matt Wright are now seeded 20th, showing a drop in their rankings. Rachel Rohrabacher and Dekel Bar, teammates on D.C. Hold Brooklyn, are the seventh seed. Fleming mentioned, “Remember the switcheroo. So they’re partners there. That will help them.”
Jaume Martinez Vich and Meghan Dizon are playing as the 11th seed. Julian Arnold and Lauren Stratman are also in the mix as the 21st seed.
Tournament Format and Schedule
Mixed doubles will follow a knockout format starting with the round of 64 on Tuesday. The round of 32 will take place on Wednesday. Semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, and the finals will be held on Championship Sunday.
Fleming summed up the excitement by saying, “Mixed is going to be bonkers. Again, every day great play one round at a time.”
