Johnson Beats Teammate to Advance
Johnson and Quang Duong, both members of the Los Angeles Mad Drops in Major League Pickleball, faced each other on Friday morning. Though they had played as partners earlier this week in men’s doubles, they were opponents in this singles match. Only one could move forward in the tournament, and it was Johnson who earned the win.
Strong Start and Finish
Johnson, the No. 2 seed in the draw, started strong and kept control of the match. He won the first game 11-3, using sharp returns and quick footwork.
In the second game, Quang Duong played better, but Johnson stayed focused and closed it out 11-7. With this win, Johnson moved one step closer to the finals.
A Tough Match Between Friends
Even though they are teammates, Johnson and Quang Duong had to compete against each other. The match showed their high skill levels and knowledge of each other’s game. But on this day, Johnson had the edge.
The next challenge for Johnson will be either top seed Ben Johns or rising star Christian Alshon in Saturday’s semifinal match.
