The 2025 Select Medical Orange County Cup, part of the 2025 Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour, will be held from June 16 to June 22, 2025, at Life Time Rancho San Clemente, 111 Avenida Vista Montana, San Clemente, California. This event offers amateurs the rare chance to compete next to the pros.
Amateurs Play Beside the Pros
Amateur players will compete alongside the main Championship Court, where the best professionals in pickleball battle for the sport’s biggest prizes.
Amateur matches will also be live-streamed on more than 12 courts. Family and friends can watch live on the YouTube channel. These streams will be available at all Opens, Cups, and Slams on the 2025 tour.
Spectator Experience and Tour Camp
Fans will be able to watch the top stars in pickleball thanks to the PPA’s exclusive contracts with top-ranked players, including Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns.
A two-day PPA Tour Camp will also be held on June 17 and June 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., for players at the 3.0 and 4.0 levels. The cost is $400 per person. Each camper receives 6 hours of instruction from PPA professionals, one courtside ticket for any day, and special tournament discounts from Pickleball Central.
Due to limited space and costs, a strict refund policy is in place. Full refunds are available if canceled more than 30 days before the camp. Cancellations 15 to 30 days before receive 50% back. There are no refunds for cancellations made 14 days or less before the camp.
Conduct, Referees, and Volunteers
Participants are asked to review the Player’s Code of Conduct before attending. Those interested in helping with the event can sign up to referee for pro, open, and amateur matches or volunteer to support the event operations.
Pro Events and Qualification Rules
The deadline to register for professional events is Monday, June 9, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying matches for all pro categories will be held on Monday, June 16. Players with PPA Gold Card status will be placed directly into the main draws for singles and doubles. Others will compete in the qualifying rounds.
Players ranked outside the PPA Top 50 in each category (Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles) can enter the qualifying rounds. Players within the Top 50 or with Gold Card status cannot play in qualifiers. Once a player enters the PPA Top 50, they can sign a Touring Professional Player Agreement, which gives them direct access to the main draw events.
Tournament Match Formats
All qualifying matches follow a single-elimination format, best 2 out of 3 games to 11 points, win by 2. No qualifying matches will overlap, allowing players to enter more than one event. These matches will not offer PPA points.
The main draw for all pro events also uses single elimination and best 2 out of 3 games to 11, win by 2. Here’s the daily breakdown:
- Monday: All Pro Qualifiers
- Tuesday: Round of 64
- Wednesday: Round of 32
- Thursday: Round of 16
- Friday: Quarterfinals
- Saturday: Semifinals
- Sunday: Gold and Bronze Medal Matches
Gold medal matches are best 3 out of 5 games to 11, win by 2 for doubles, and 2 out of 3 for singles. Bronze medal matches are 2 out of 3 for all divisions. There will be no consolation brackets or bonus draws.
Partner Rules and Payments
In doubles events, if one partner does not register within 7 days of the first player’s registration, the registered player will be moved to a waitlist. That player’s spot in the main draw will not be saved. If both players complete registration and the event has room, they may return to the main event. If it is already full, they stay on the waitlist.
No partner changes are allowed after main draw seeding is finalized. For qualifiers, changes are allowed up until 6:00 p.m. the day before. If a player loses a partner after registration closes, the new partner must already be registered and must be in the same skill/age group. Players can play down in age or up in skill. Any changes must be reported by 6:00 p.m. the day before the event.
Refunds and Weather Insurance
The cancellation deadline is May 19, 2025. If a player withdraws before this date, they will receive a refund minus a $25 fee. No refunds will be given after May 19 unless the Registration & Weather Insurance Policy was purchased before that date. This optional policy covers cancellations due to personal reasons or weather if no make-up day is available.
