Minneapolis Mash Ignites Amateur Pickleball Dreams With National Championship on the Line

The World Pickleball Tour returned to Minnesota with the Minneapolis Mash tournament held from June 27 to June 29, 2025, at Lakeview Knolls Park in Maple Grove. This event featured amateur players competing across various skill and age levels for medals and a chance to qualify for a national cash championship.

A Big Event for Amateur Pickleball

The Minneapolis Mash brought together amateur pickleball players at the 18-court Lakeview Knolls Park. The event is part of the World Pickleball Tour, which hosted 25 tournaments in 2024 and plans nearly 35 in 2025. This growing series focuses on supporting amateur players and building community excitement.

Players competed in skill levels from 3.0 to 5.0 and age groups including 19+, 30+, 40+, 50+, and 60+. A 70+ group could be added based on interest. Players aged 18 and under could join the 19+ group. Each competitor received a WPT Dri-Fit shirt, free photos, and official DUPR scores.

Format and Prizes

All participants played in round-robin style brackets, followed by playoff matches. Each player was guaranteed at least six games, with matches played to 11 points, win by 2. After the schedule was created, players could choose to join a second event on the same day if timing allowed.

The Minneapolis Mash was a “challenger” event. Medal winners were invited to compete in the World Pickleball Tour Amateur Invitational Championships. That final event offers a $175,000 cash prize pool. Gold medalists receive 50% off their registration for the championship, silver medalists 30%, and bronze medalists 20%.

Perks and Giveaways

In addition to games and medals, the event included sponsored raffles. Players had chances to win luxury bags, paddles, and other prizes. These giveaways helped make the tournament a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

Growing the Game

The World Pickleball Tour’s mission is to grow the sport at the amateur level. Events like the Minneapolis Mash give new and experienced players alike a chance to improve their game and join a national community. With more events planned this year, interest and participation continue to rise.
