The 2025 Wisconsin PPA Challenger will take place from July 24 to July 27 at Lake Hallie Pickleball at Gower Park in Lake Hallie, Wisconsin. Registration is open until July 17 at 5:00 PM CST, with a fee of $70 per player. This pickleball event gives amateur players a rare chance to play near the Championship Court, where top rising professionals will compete for points and prizes.
Amateur Format and Details
Amateur players from skill levels 3.0 to 5.0 will compete in different match formats depending on the number of participants. Divisions with 13 or more teams will play double elimination. Smaller brackets will follow round-robin or pool play, with playoff formats based on the team count. For instance, four or five teams will have a single round robin with playoffs. All skill brackets will be seeded based on DUPR ratings.
Match formats vary by stage:
- Main Draw: Best of three games to 11, win by 2.
- Consolation: One game to 15, win by 2.
- Gold/Bronze Matches: Best of three to 11, win by 2.
If fewer than six players or teams enter a bracket, events will shift to round-robin with adjusted match types. Events may be combined by age or skill level to ensure fair play. The Vulcan VPro Flight Outdoor ball will be used.
Pro and Senior Formats
Professional players will compete in double elimination brackets with no come-around. Consolation rounds will offer a path to bronze medals, but not gold. Point distribution will follow PPA standards, awarding 125 points for first place down to 3 points for a round of 64 finish. The Markquart Senior Pro Open will also use the double elimination system. Events with five or fewer entries will follow a round-robin format.
Matches may be shortened if poor weather delays the schedule. For doubles events, both partners must be registered within seven days of one another to secure a spot. Players without a partner by the registration deadline will be placed on the waitlist.
Registration, Refunds, and Partner Policy
All players must pay and have a registered partner to secure their entry. If one partner fails to register in time, the registered player is moved to the waitlist. No changes in partners are allowed after seeding for main draws. For qualifiers, substitutions can be made up until 6:00 PM the night before play.
The cancellation deadline is June 26, 2025. Players who cancel before this date will get a refund minus a $25 fee. No refunds are issued after this deadline unless players have purchased registration and weather insurance, which must also be bought before June 26.
