Brooke Buckner Pickleball Title Defense: Brooke Buckner kept her title defense alive at the 2025 Veolia Bristol Open by defeating Catherine Parenteau 11-7, 11-7 in the women’s singles quarterfinals on Wednesday. With this win, the No. 3 seed is now just two victories away from repeating her 2024 championship run.
A Familiar Rivalry
This was not the first meeting between Brooke Buckner and Catherine Parenteau in recent months. They last played in June at the Select Medical Orange County Cup, where Catherine Parenteau won in straight games, 11-6, 12-10. But this time in Bristol, it was Brooke Buckner who controlled the match.
She used strong drives and played from the baseline to take command early and maintain the edge throughout both games.
“Catherine’s been playing some great singles. She beat me in San Clemente, and every time I play her, it’s a battle,” Buckner said afterwards. “I know she’s going to fight. She’s crafty, she’s super athletic, and I was just really fortunate to execute. I had James [Delgado] and Zoey [Wang] giving me some great coaching tips on the side, and I was able to come away with a W.”
Eyes on the Semifinals
Brooke Buckner’s next challenge will come on Saturday, when she plays against No. 2 seed Parris Todd in the semifinals. A win in that match would send her back to Championship Sunday with a chance to defend her crown.
What It Means
This victory means a lot for Brooke Buckner as she works to repeat as champion in Bristol. The win over Catherine Parenteau not only avenges her earlier loss this year but also proves her strong form heading into the final rounds. Saturday’s matchup with Parris Todd will be one to watch.
