Underdog Duo Tyson McGuffin and Max Freeman Stun Top Seeds in Thrilling Bristol Open Comeback

Tyson McGuffin and Max Freeman Bristol Open Semifinals: Tyson McGuffin and Max Freeman won a close men’s doubles quarterfinal match at the 2025 Veolia Bristol Open in East Tennessee on Friday. They beat the No. 3 seeds, JW Johnson and Andrei Daescu, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9 to reach the semifinals.

Battle of First-Time Partners

This match was a contest between two pairs who had never played together before on the PPA Tour. The turning point came in the final game when Max Freeman’s two-handed backhand helped the team come back from a 3-7 deficit. Their strong teamwork pushed them past Johnson and Daescu.
