Hunter Johnson Pickleball Finals Streak: Hunter Johnson secured a place in the men’s singles final at the Walgreens Open on the Las Vegas Strip Thursday after defeating No. 3 seed Jaume Martinez Vich in straight games, 11-5, 11-5. The win sends Johnson into his fifth Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour final of the year.
Strong Bounce Back Performance
Johnson, the No. 2 seed, was coming off a semifinal loss with the Los Angeles Mad Drops at last week’s Major League Pickleball finals. On Thursday, however, he found his rhythm, advancing to the final without dropping a game through four matches.
“I really tried to lock in and focus on my game,”
he said of Thursday’s performances.
“I like this Life Time ball; it suits my game a little bit more. I can kind of rip and create some spin. I’m locked in, focused on the rest of the week, and ready for Championship Sunday.”

Upcoming Championship Clash
Sunday’s final will be the second meeting between John Lucian Goins and Hunter Johnson. Johnson won their only previous match earlier this year at the Texas Open, where he pulled out a close 11-6, 6-11, 12-10 victory.
“He’s a grinder, he’s lengthy, he’s long, and he hits the ball very well on pretty much all parts of the court,”
Johnson said about Goins.
“I think it’s going to be a battle. I’m gonna have to create a gameplan to beat him. He’s young, he’s focused, and it’s nice to see a fresh face on Championship Sunday.”
Bronze Medal Match Set
While Johnson and Goins prepare for the final, Jack Sock and Jaume Martinez Vich will compete for the bronze medal, also scheduled for Sunday.
What It Means
Johnson’s strong run shows his consistency on the 2025 PPA Tour. His matchup against Goins is expected to be one of the most competitive of the season, pairing Johnson’s experience with Goins’ fast rise as a teenage star.
