Kate Fahey Pickleball Championship Run: Kate Fahey, the top seed in Las Vegas this week, advanced to the women’s singles final at the Walgreens Open on Thursday after defeating first-time semifinalist Layne Sleeth 11-8, 11-3. With Anna Leigh Waters not playing singles, Fahey showed why she entered the event as the No. 1 seed.
Battling a Tough Opponent
Fahey credited Layne Sleeth’s athleticism for making the match a challenge. Sleeth chased down shots and extended rallies, forcing Fahey to stay sharp throughout the semifinal.
“I felt l like I had to win the point five times. I would hit balls that would typically be winners, and then she would get them back. But not only would she get it back—she would hit a great shot. I’ve never seen anyone that fast.”(Kate Fahey)

Rebounding from Past Setback
The victory marks a strong comeback for Fahey, whose team, the St. Louis Shock, was eliminated by the Columbus Sliders at last week’s Major League Pickleball finals in New York City. The loss could have been a setback, but Fahey quickly turned her focus back to singles play.
“it’s definitely really hard to bounce back after a week like that, but, honestly, it’s good to stay busy. It’s good to distract yourself, and it’s honestly good to be right back on the court.
I’m super excited to be back on the PPA Tour and really excited to be back in Championship Sunday.”(Kate Fahey)
Looking Ahead
Fahey’s strong form puts her in position to capture another major singles title on the PPA Tour. Her ability to quickly regroup after a tough team loss highlights her resilience. With her place confirmed on Championship Sunday, fans can expect an intense final matchup.
