Connor Garnett Pickleball Triple Crown: Connor Garnett made history at the Sansan Fukuoka Open in Japan by winning gold in men’s singles, mixed doubles, and men’s doubles on Championship Sunday. With these victories, Garnett became the first player to claim a Triple Crown in PPA Tour Asia history.
Singles Victory
Garnett’s first match of the day was a tough test. Vietnam’s Phuc Huynh surprised the crowd by rallying from 0-6 down to win the first game 11-8. Garnett stayed calm and bounced back, dominating the next two games 11-3 and 11-1 to secure the men’s singles title.

Mixed Doubles Success
Teaming up with Allyce Jones, Garnett kept his winning momentum in mixed doubles. The pair defeated Len Yang and Wei Ting Chieh 11-7, 11-5.
“When Allyce is getting low and resetting like she was in the end, I feel all the confidence to play my game, so it’s just awesome to play beside her and see some of those crazy resets. It allows me to get big in the middle and get pokey.”(Connor Garnett)
Jones praised her partner’s skill, saying,
“This guy is a stud. He is one of the best players I’ve ever played with. He’s one of the most athletic guys on tour in the States.”
Men’s Doubles Finish
Garnett closed his remarkable day by partnering with Tyler Loong in men’s doubles. They defeated Japan’s Kenta Miyoshi and Robert Stirling in straight games, 11-3, 12-10.
“It was a great battle out there. That second game, they had some game points, so we were just holding course and fighting strong. Just stoked to come out of this with a victory in that one. Credit to them, they played very well.”(Connor Garnett)

After achieving the rare Triple Crown, Garnett reflected on the experience.
“I’ll start with ‘Nippon daisuki’ (‘I love Japan’). It’s been so cool here. Just the love the community has shown and just being able to experience the culture has been awesome. Just to seal it with a Triple Crown is just surreal.”(Connor Garnett)
Garnett’s clean sweep marks a milestone for PPA Tour Asia and raises excitement for the next stop on the schedule, the MB Vietnam Open in Ho Chi Minh City from September 4 to 7.
