Garnett Controls the Match
Chris Haworth entered the match with momentum after defeating Jack Sock and Federico Staksrud in back-to-back rounds. But Connor Garnett quickly took control, limiting the 6’4″ Haworth’s reach at the kitchen line with precise shots.
“When you’ve got a guy as long as Chris, the more he gets grooved on these shots, the more he can kind of start to take over, and so I was just trying to keep him uncomfortable; that was kind of my whole thought going into this match,”
Connor Garnett said after the win.

Confidence From Previous Success
Connor Garnett’s strong performance followed his Triple Crown victory at the PPA Tour Asia’s Sansan Fukuoka Open earlier this season. He credited that success with helping him stay confident during this Slam event.
“Japan helped a lot, being able to get the Triple Crown over there. Any time you can finish a tournament with a win, I think it just helps the confidence because you’re on the road so much and when you lose week after week, sometimes that starts to put doubts in your head,” (Connor Garnett).
Looking Ahead to the Final
Sunday’s championship will be the third meeting this year between Christian Alshon and Connor Garnett. Their last encounter came at the Orange County Cup, where Garnett defeated Alshon 9-11, 11-4, 11-8 in the bronze medal match. The upcoming final is expected to be a close contest.
