PPA Tour Asia Malaysia Cup 2025 Promises Unforgettable Showdowns as Pros and Amateurs Ignite Malaysia’s Pickleball Scene

The PPA Tour Asia Malaysia Cup 2025 will take place from September 24 to September 28 at 9Pickle Setia Alam in Shah Alam, Selangor. The event will feature both professional and amateur players, offering fans a chance to watch top-level pickleball alongside community competition.

Amateur and Pro Competition

Amateur players will play near Championship Court, where the world’s best compete. Events will cover skill levels above and below 3.5, with age groups ranging from Under 18 to 50+. The amateur schedule includes mixed doubles, singles, and doubles events spread across all five days.

All amateur matches will follow a round-robin format. Games will be played to 11 points, win by 2. Gold medal matches will go to 15 points. Registration for amateur events opened on August 23, with a final deadline of September 9 or until all slots are filled.

Professional matches will include qualifying rounds on September 24, followed by main draw matches from September 25 to 28. Pros ranked inside the PPA Tour Top 20 in their category cannot enter qualifiers unless given a Host Wild Card. Main draw matches will be single elimination, best two of three games to 11 points, win by 2.

Event Rules and Equipment

All professional players must use paddles certified by the United Pickleball Association – Asia (UPA-A). Paddles will be tested at the venue daily. Amateur players may use paddles approved by either UPA-A or USA Pickleball (USAP). Official lists of certified paddles are available online.

The tournament ball will be the Joola HC-40. Both professionals and amateurs must pay a service fee of five U.S. dollars per event, with a maximum of ten dollars total. For doubles, both partners must register and pay to confirm their entry. Replacement rules apply if a partner withdraws before matches begin.

Spectator and Camp Opportunities

Fans will be able to watch the top professionals in action while also supporting amateur players on nearby courts. Organizers have described the event as a showcase of fast-paced play that will “blaze up the Asian pickleball scene with breathtaking action.” PPA Tour Camps will also be available during the event, giving players of all levels opportunities to learn and improve.

Tournament Management

Event organizers have the authority to merge categories by age, skill, or gender to improve scheduling and player experience. Matches may also be shortened if delays occur. All decisions by the tournament director will be final.
