Strong Finish After Slow Start
Staksrud faced early pressure in the first game, falling behind 4-7 against No. 3 seed Connor Garnett. Showing calm and control, he stormed back to win 18 of the next 20 points. His quick adjustment to the Sacramento court conditions allowed him to dominate the second game, closing the match with an 11-1 score.
Adapting to the Conditions
“I think today was about who adjusted the fastest to these conditions, and I think I did a pretty good job of trying to hit everything flat,”
Federico Staksrud said after the win.
“I started every match down, so I just had to get used to the conditions and eventually started to feel more comfortable as each match went on.”
Eyes on the Championship
Staksrud will face Gabriel Joseph in Sunday’s championship match. Joseph defeated Staksrud in their most recent meeting last month in Bristol, giving Staksrud extra motivation to claim the title. A win would mark Staksrud’s fourth singles championship appearance this year and another step in his impressive 2025 season.
