Strong Start Sets the Tone

Etta Tuionetoa and Lacy Schneemann entered the final after battling through two three-game matches on Saturday. Despite those challenges, they came out sharp against the No. 6 seeds. Schneemann set the pace early, using the wooden paddle with confidence and keeping constant pressure at the kitchen line to take the first game 11-2.

Mid-Match Battle

The second game was more competitive, but Tuionetoa and Schneemann stayed steady to claim an 11-8 win. Jessie Irvine and Callie Smith fought back in the third game, tightening their play to grab an 11-8 victory and extend the match. However, Tuionetoa and Schneemann quickly regained control, dominating the fourth game 11-2 to close out the match.

Players Reflect on the Win

“As the weekend has gone on, I’ve gotten more reps and have gotten a little more comfortable with the wooden paddle. Today, I felt pretty sharp, especially in the first game.

I felt like I was pushing the ball around well and was able to attack some, especially with Etta on my right just protecting anything and everything. I thought we played well today.”(Lacy Schneemann)

“Obviously we knew that Jessie and Callie are a great team, but Lacy and I just kept it simple: push the ball, make balls, and attack when we could,” (Etta Tuionetoa).

Career Milestones

This victory marks Etta Tuionetoa’s first women’s doubles title since winning the 2023 Red Rock Open with Meghan Dizon. For Lacy Schneemann, it is her first women’s doubles crown since partnering with Vivian Glozman at the Australian Pickleball Open in January. Their win signals a strong start for a new pairing with promising potential.
