Quang Duong and Christian Alshon Shine in PPA Semifinals, Will Play 1st Final Together

Quang Duong and Christian Alshon Shine in PPA Semifinals: The echoes of a thrilling victory reverberated through the Bristol courts as Quang Duong and Christian Alshon secured their first PPA final together. They won over the No. 6 seeds, Jay Devilliers and Pablo Tellez, with a decisive 11-8, 11-8 performance.

Early Struggles, Late Victory

The No. 8 seeds faced a tough start in both games, finding themselves trailing early. Yet, they turned the tide with their high-octane, power-driven pickleball, employing a relentless drive-and-crash strategy. Their victory propelled them into the final and set Alshon up for a potentially golden Championship Sunday. He’s ready to compete in two events: men’s doubles with Duong and mixed doubles with Anna Bright.

A Surprising Turnaround

Alshon’s journey to this moment is as unexpected as it is impressive. At 24, he hadn’t initially planned to play this week.

“I only added this tournament because Anna Bright asked me to play mixed, and I thought we’d be a top seed there. Once I decided to play, I knew I needed a men’s partner. Quang and I are absolute animals in MLP, and I knew that it could transfer over, and it looks like it has.” – (Alshon)

A Team to Watch

Alshon and Duong, representing the Texas Ranchers in MLP alongside Tina Pisnik and Etta Wright, are making waves. Their opponents in the finals, the formidable Ben and Collin Johns of the Carolina Pickleball Club will need to bring their A-game. In their previous encounter at MLP Salt Lake City, Alshon and Duong delivered a decisive 25-13 defeat to the Johns brothers, setting the stage for another exhilarating show.
