Andre Agassi Spotted Cheering for Jack Sock in Pickleball Match

Andre Agassi Spotted : At the PPA Tour’s Las Vegas Pickleball Cup on Thursday, spectators were treated to a bit of star power off the court. Among the crowd, two familiar figures from the world of tennis made their presence known—Andre Agassi and Justin Gimelstob. The former American tennis icons were there to support their friend, Jack Sock, as he competed in the Round of 16 men’s doubles alongside Collin Shick. Their opponents? Dekel Bar and Zane Navratil, two formidable names in the pickleball world.

Agassi’s Enthusiasm for Pickleball

For Agassi, the match was a fresh experience, watching Sock battle it out on the smaller, faster pickleball court. Despite the fact that Bar and Navratil claimed victory in straight games, Agassi’s enjoyment of the event was evident. The transition from tennis to pickleball may seem surprising to some, but for those who know the game, it’s a natural fit—especially for athletes like Sock, who bring their tennis expertise to the rapidly growing sport.

Zane Navratil’s Humble Humor

Following the match, Zane Navratil was asked about the challenges of facing the powerful forehands of Sock and Shick. His response was filled with both humility and humor, a testament to the growing camaraderie between tennis and pickleball players.

Obviously, they were both just very good tennis players. Dekel was a great tennis player. Andre Agassi and Justin Gimelstob were great tennis players. I’m just very, very thankful we were playing pickleball and not tennis, because I did not belong on that court if that was the case,” Navratil quipped with a laugh. His comment underscored the respect pickleball players have for their tennis counterparts, while also highlighting the unique skill set required for pickleball.

The Growing Relationship Between Tennis and Pickleball

Dekel Bar, on the other hand, offered insight into the evolving relationship between tennis and pickleball during his post-match interview. When asked about the coexistence of the two sports, Bar’s perspective was optimistic.

We see they are co-existing. Of course we have the resistance from tennis a little bit, but there’s room for both. I don’t see an issue,” he explained. Bar’s comments reflect a broader sentiment within the athletic community—while tennis may have been the dominant racket sport for decades, pickleball is carving out its own space, with room for both games to thrive.

The Las Vegas Pickleball Cup wasn’t just another stop on the PPA Tour; it was a meeting point for the past and future of racket sports. With Agassi and Gimelstob in the audience and Sock on the court, the event highlighted the growing intersection between tennis and pickleball—a relationship built on mutual respect, a shared passion for competition, and perhaps, a bit of friendly rivalry.
