The Dink Minor League Pickleball Experience
In an era where pickleball is rapidly gaining traction, The Dink Minor League Pickleball is at the forefront of this surge, introducing a format that is as innovative as it is entertaining. The tournament will feature teams of four—comprising two men and two women—competing in a format that challenges traditional norms while promoting inclusive and exciting gameplay.
MLPlay™ Format: The MLPlay™ format is the centerpiece of this event, designed to create a balanced and dynamic playing field. Each match is composed of four 21-point games:
- One women’s doubles
- One men’s doubles
- Two mixed doubles games
Should the teams finish in a 2-2 tie, the tension will escalate in the Dreambreaker™, a dramatic singles showdown where one player from each team faces off. They’ll switch opponents every four rallies until one player reaches 21 points, winning by two. This format ensures that every point and rally counts, adding layers of strategy and excitement.
DUPR Divisions
To accommodate a range of skill levels and ensure fair competition, the tournament will utilize several DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) divisions:
- DUPR 12: Team aggregate DUPR up to 12.30; maximum individual DUPR of 3.60.
- DUPR 14: Team aggregate DUPR up to 14.30; maximum individual DUPR of 4.10.
- DUPR 16: Team aggregate DUPR up to 16.30; maximum individual DUPR of 4.60.
- DUPR 18: Team aggregate DUPR up to 18.30; maximum individual DUPR of 5.10.
- DUPR 20: Team aggregate DUPR up to 20.99.
Once registered, a team’s ratings are locked, providing a stable and equitable playing field throughout the event.
Registration and Policies
To join the action, players must have a DUPR account at the time of registration. For those without a rating, the tournament director will verify estimated ratings. Single registrations should include their desired team name and DUPR division. If a player cannot form a team, the director will endeavor to place them with an existing team. If placement is not possible, registration fees will be refunded.
Substitute Players
Teams can update their rosters by either editing their team profile on Swish or by submitting substitute details directly to the tournament organizer. Substitute players must ensure that their inclusion does not push the team’s DUPR aggregate above the division’s maximum.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
To receive a refund minus a $5 technology fee and a 3% processing fee, cancellations must be made by 15 days prior to the event start date. For example, for an event starting on October 26, cancellations must be received by 11:59 PM on October 11. After this deadline, no refunds will be issued. For individual registrations not placed on a team, a full refund minus the technology and processing fees will be issued 3-5 business days post-event.
