Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns Reign Supreme at PPA Rate Las Vegas Championships

Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns Reign Supreme at PPA: Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns showed their championship skills once again, securing their 41st mixed doubles title with a decisive 5-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-1 victory over the Johnson siblings, Jorja Johnson and JW Johnson, in the thrilling conclusion of PPA Rate Las Vegas Championships.

Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns Overcome Early Struggles

The top-seeded duo faced an uphill battle as they struggled out of the gate in the first game. A combination of fatigue from their earlier matches—Anna Leigh Waters in women’s doubles and Ben Johns in men’s doubles—seemed to contribute to their slow start. Meanwhile, Jorja Johnson and JW Johnson capitalized on their early momentum, delivering exceptional performances that caught the top seeds off guard.

However, Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns quickly regrouped, finding their rhythm and dominating the subsequent games. With impressive teamwork and strategic play, they overwhelmed their opponents, never allowing them to regain the upper hand.

A New Challenge Ahead

With this victory, Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns clinched their fourteenth title of 2024. While the PPA action in Las Vegas has concluded, all eyes now turn to Major League Pickleball, set to take center stage over the next three days for MLP Las Vegas.

Reflecting on his day, Ben Johns expressed a sense of accomplishment, despite the rocky start in singles earlier in the tournament.

“This week has definitely felt longer than it probably was. It wasn’t the strongest start in singles, but I’m happy to finish with two titles. As for the rest of the time, I’m looking forward to playing AL tomorrow.” – (Ben Johns)
